´CAN I? OH, YES... GO FOR IT!´
.
Simon Woodroffe OBE
Founder of Yo!
UK

Simon left school at the age of 16 and spent 30 years in the entertainment business. His production companies in London and Los Angeles designed and staged concerts for many artists during the 70´s and 80´s, including The Moody Blues, Madness, Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder and George Michael.

In the 90´s, he went into television, spearheading the development of television deals to show huge international rock concerts worldwide, including Nelson Mandela concerts and shows for Amnesty International.

Simon started the YO! group in the mid 1990s by creating YO! Sushi, which became an “overnight phenomenon”. The concept was to make eating a complete entertainment experience and featured call buttons, robot drinks trolleys and Japanese TV. Simon is developing new YO! brands including YOTEL, the world´s most revolutionary hotel which launched in 2007; YO! Zone, part spa, part café, part bar and part nightclub; and YO! How, an online support community for budding entrepreneurs. In recognition for his contribution to hospitality, Simon was awarded and OBE title by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006.

Some take away ideas from Simon´s presentation:
.
• never get up in the morning for the desire of great wealth or pleasures

• always get up in the morning being obsessed with seeing something happen or scared stiff that it is all going wrong

• you can say you have a five or ten-year plan, but you´d be a fool to say that that´s what you´re going to do

• you can´t market research a market that literally doesn´t exist
