| | The Art Nouveau town of Ålesund With a population of 42.000 Ålesund is the largest fisheries town in Norway.
After the great fire of 1904, Ålesund was rebuilt and given a distinct Art Nouveau architectural style with numerous turrets, spires and ornaments.
A stroll through the town is a colourful and charming experience. Here you can buy freshly cooked prawns directly from the fishing boats.
Majestic mountains constitute an impressive frame around the town and create a beautiful contrast to the Atlantic Ocean with all its fjords cutting into the coastline.
